Bydefault,eachcableis25meterslong.Thecablesare
cuttoteachindividualinstallation.
Thecablemustbeproperlysupportedbothinsideand
outsidetheretractablekeel.
Ontheinside,designasteelcableductfromthetopof
thekeeltojustabovethetransducer(A).Onthetopofthe
ducts,placeawatertightseal(B)whichalsosupportsthe
totalweightofthecables,bothinsideandoutsidethekeel.
Outsidetheretractablekeel,allowthecabletorun
smoothlyupanddown(C)whenthekeelislowered
andhoisted.Thetopoftheexternalcablerunmust
beproperlyandpermanentlysecured(D),andtheseal
mustbeabletotaketheentireweightofthecables.It
isalsoimportanttoensurethatthecableruncanmove
undisturbedupanddownoutsidethekeel.Theremustbe
noobstructionstopreventthecablesfrommovingfreely!
Asecondsteelconduit(E)isusedbetweentheexternal
cablesupportandtheelectronicequipmentinthesonar
room.
Designofcableconduit
Thecableconduitmustbedesignedtoteachindividualshipandretractablekeel.The
qualityofthematerialsused,aswellasthequalityoftheworkmanshipmustbedened
bythevesselownerandtheinstallationshipyard.
Ifawatertightsealingisused,thedesignandqualityofthissealingmustbeapprovedby
thevessel’sclassicationsociety.
